Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stalwart and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra and Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD) Rairakhol MLA Rohit Pujari confronted each other over the ongoing expansion work of National Highway-55 on Tuesday.

While MLA Pujari accused LoP Mishra of keeping mum on the tardy progress of expansion work, the latter advised the former to think about his coal percentage.

“The LoP hails from Sambalpur and is using the road (NH-55) on a daily basis. The irony is that he has never raised his voice even for once in the past nine years on how the expansion work will be completed and how the sufferings of commuters will come to an end,” said Pujari.

“It is unfortunate that he is still silent on this. He should have a discussion with the concerned Union Minister and make an announcement as to when the ongoing work will be over. Or else, the people of Sambalpur would never forgive him,” he added.

LoP Mishra hit back at MLA Pujari saying he should only be concerned about his coal percentage.

“He should think about his coal percentage in Jharsuguda. In the NHAI’s meeting, I wanted to know from the officials as to when the expansion work would be completed and they informed me that they would make one side of the road available for communication by the end of November. And he (Pujari) was present during the meeting. We believe in action, not in words,” Mishra said.
