The Congress will repeat its success of Telangana and become number one from number three in Odisha too, said OPCC chief, Sarat Pattanyak on Thursday.

The party’s position in Odisha is the same as it was in Telangana. Like there, the party will also emerge as number one here. In the coming election, we will achieve our 'Mission 90' target. The party has taken up several programmes against the government and is taking them to the doorsteps to make people aware, he said.

“Our victory in the neighbouring state has left the workers and leaders encouraged. Its impact will definitely be felt in Odisha,” he said.

“The high command has given me the responsibility to lift the party from number three to number one. I am working in that direction. I as well as all the leaders and workers have taken a vow to make the party number one in the state with the blessings of the people,” he added.

When asked about the criteria of candidate selection, he said, “I have already said that winnability is our first criterion. We have decided to select candidates based on that. I have already announced that youths and women, including those below 50 years, who are sincerely working in their respective areas, will get tickets.”
