A little less than two months after a violent clash at Padmakesharpur in Patia area of Bhubaneswar left 10 people seriously injured, the area witnessed another group clash on Thursday.

Many people were injured after the clash broke out between two wards of Padmakesharpur on Thursday. The residents pelted stones and bottles at each other turning the area into a battlefield until the Mancheswar police intervened.

With palpable tension prevailing in the area, two platoons of police force have been deployed to maintain law and order and thwart any untoward incident.

As per sources, two wards of Padmakesharpur have been at loggerheads since the last Panchayat election two years back. The violence on Thursday reportedly occurred between the supporters of the present Sarpanch and his rival who was defeated in the last election.

It is pertinent to mention here that these two groups were involved in violence on September 1 this year that had left 10 people seriously injured including two children. More than 20 persons were also arrested by the police and forwarded to the court for inciting violence.

Though a peace committee was formed to resolve the dispute with dialogue, it has apparently bore no fruit as they clashed once again yesterday.
