General darshan in Puri Srimandir will be closed for devotees for five hours on Monday evening, informed the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).

Darshan will be suspended from 5 pm to 10 pm today following the second Bhoga Mandap ritual.

As per reports, the ‘Paita Lagi’ ritual will be held today on the seventh day of Krushna Paksha in Margashira month.

Daitapati servitors perform the ritual for the protection of Lord Jagannath’s body.

As ‘Paita Lagi’ is a closed-door ritual, only Daitapati servitors will be allowed inside the ‘Garba Gruha’ or sanctum sanctorum to perform the special service.

It is pertinent to mention here that, the laser scanning of Srimandir Ratna Bhadar was completed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on Thursday.

A 15-member team of the ASI along with architects and surveillance and photography experts were part of the laser scanning exercise.

Reportedly, a total of 45 points of the north side and upper part of the Ratna Bhandar were scanned. The scanning of Nata Mandap will begin soon.

Notably, the temple administration had permitted the ASI for the laser scanning of the outer wall of the Ratna Bhandar to detect suspected cracks through which water is seeping inside.
