A dog show was organised by the Odisha Kennel Club as part of Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha (MPSO-2024) at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar. As many as 46 dogs of over 19 breeds took part in the show where the pets amazed the audience by showcasing their skills and their characteristic behaviour. A large number of audiences thronged the show.

Tommy among some dogs of indigenous breeds stole the show. Besides, dogs of Doberman, Golden Retriever, Pug, German Sheperd, Labrador, Great Dene, Chihuahua, French Bulldog and Dutch Shepherd breeds were part of the show. They regaled the viewers by taking commands from their owners.

A pet lover was all praise for the indi-breed and said, ”The dogs of the indigenous breed are very friendly. They can be used for guarding and training. We can say, these dogs are all in one. They learn quickly.” 

A pet lover and owner of a Belgian Shepherd dog, said, ”This breed of dog is very aggressive and does not allow anyone to come closer to it. The dogs protect their owners.”

Suresh Kumar Vashishth, secretary of the fisheries and animals husbandry department, said, ”This is the dog show in which 44 dogs have participated. Besides, 12 technical sections are in the Samavesh. We have good response from livestock farmers and fisheries farmers.”

Subrat Prusty, president of Odisha Kennel Club said, “The show is meant to display dogs of different breeds and their characteristic behaviour. Common people should know them. We want to show people why one should be a canine-friendly citizen.”

The Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha (MPSO-2024) concluded on Sunday and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik gave a message for farmers for the progress of the state.
