Rashtrapati Bhavan
In a first, the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi is set to host its first-ever wedding on February 12, 2025, following approval from President Droupadi Murmu. This unprecedented event comes after the President was highly impressed by the exemplary service and conduct of the individual whose wedding will take place at the prestigious complex.
The wedding ceremony will be held at the Mother Teresa Crown Complex within the Rashtrapati Bhavan and will be attended by a select group of family members and close friends. To ensure security, strict measures will be in place for all attendees.
The bride-to-be, Poonam Gupta, is an Assistant Commandant in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), currently serving as a Personal Security Officer (PSO) at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Gupta, known for her dedication to women’s empowerment, will marry Avneesh Kumar, an Assistant Commandant in the CRPF who is currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir.
Poonam Gupta, hailing from Madhya Pradesh, has had an impressive career trajectory. A passionate advocate for women’s rights, she holds a bachelor's degree in Mathematics, a master's degree in English Literature, and a BEd from Jiwaji University, Gwalior.
Her determination saw her secure the 81st rank in the 2018 UPSC CAPF exam, after which she made her mark in the CRPF. Prior to her current posting, Gupta worked in the challenging Naxal-affected areas of Bihar, demonstrating resilience and courage.
Gupta has also made a significant impact outside her professional role, gaining a strong presence on social media. She is particularly active on Instagram, where she frequently shares posts related to women's empowerment and motivates students through her initiatives. Her campaigns for social causes and her updates on various activities showcase her dedication to making a positive difference. This wedding, set in the heart of India's most iconic building, not only marks a personal milestone for Poonam Gupta but also reflects her continuous contribution to society and women’s empowerment.
