BJP National Vice-President Baijayant Jay Panda expressed pleasure by saying that startups are flourishing in India and recently they are coming up in mid and small-sized towns across the country.

“Just eight and nine years ago, we had about 700 startups and today we have nearly 85,000 startups. We have more than 100 Unicorns in India. Moreover, the best thing is that a lot of these startups are coming from small and mid-sized towns across the country apart from Bengaluru, Mumbai and Gurgaon,” said Panda during a panel discussion at Raisina Dialogue 2023.

India has become the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world, said the saffron party leader during the multilateral conference.

“In the case of India, we had a situation where the country is naturally entrepreneurial. We have thousands years of tradition which has been suppressed by state-wise policies for quite a long time,” said Panda.

“Hundreds of millions of Indians especially younger Indians are now getting involved and convinced that this is an India where they can flourish as a boost to the earlier generation who felt they have to go out of India to have these opportunities,” he added.
