As many as 26 trains were cancelled, 22 others diverted while 11 others have been partially cancelled following the horrific train collision in Andhra Pradesh that claimed the lives of at least 13 people and left around 50 others seriously injured.

Moreover, at least six trains were rescheduled.

“26 trains have been cancelled…. 22 trains diverted and there is partial cancellation of 11 trains… We have made bus arrangements for passengers so that they are not trapped in the area… We have partially recovered the tracks,” Biswajit Sahu, CPRO, East Coast Railway was quoted as saying by ANI.

He further added that the restoration work would be completed by this evening.

Worth mentioning, a special passenger train en route to Palasa from Visakhapatnam had stopped on the tracks between Alamanda and Kantakapalle near Kothsavatsala because of no signal when the Vizag-Raigad passenger train rammed into it, derailing three coaches.

Railway sources said the tragic train mishap was a result of human error, adding that the signaling was not noticed by the loco pilot.
