Air India Crash

In a heartbreaking yet extraordinary turn of events, a survivor has been traced from the wreckage of the Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner that crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday afternoon.

The aircraft, operating as Flight AI171 and bound for London, was carrying 242 people, including crew, when it crashed into a hostel building near a medical college around 1:30 PM. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud explosion followed by a rising tower of grey smoke that engulfed the area.

Among the devastation, Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, 38, who was seated in 11A was found conscious and responsive by rescue teams and rushed to a hospital. A now-viral video shows him limping away from the rubble, covered in soot, clutching his side as medics assisted him. Authorities confirm he remains under close medical supervision.

Speaking to ANI on a phone call, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik said, "The police found one survivor in seat 11A. One survivor has been found in the hospital and is under treatment. Cannot say anything about the number of deaths yet. The death toll may increase as the flight crashed in a residential area."

The pilot reportedly sent a mayday call moments before the aircraft lost contact with air traffic control. The cause of the crash is under investigation, with Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu assuring that all aviation and emergency response protocols are being activated and monitored personally.

Biswas’s survival offers a rare glimmer of hope as the nation reels from yet another aviation disaster.
