A thick blanket of security cover will be in place for President Ram Nath Kovind’s scheduled visit to Puri starting from February 19.

Around 40 platoons of police force will be deployed for the overall security arrangements during the President’s visit to the Pilgrim town, informed district administration officials after a high-level meeting held on Saturday.

“Preparations are in full swing for the President’s visit for which 40 platoons of police force will be deployed. Around 200 officers will supervise the entire arrangements which have been finalised as protocols under the Blue Book,” said Puri Superintendent of Police, Kanwar Vishal Singh.

According to Singh, the focus will be on ensuring all the programmes in which the President is scheduled to attend are conducted in a smooth manner. Adequate measures will be taken to ensure that devotees and other citizens do not face many inconveniences during the VVIP’s visit to the town.

Puri Collector, Samarth Verma said that elaborate measures have been taken for the President’s visit and proper discussions have been made with all stakeholders.
