The mortal remains of Odisha Television Limited’s (OTV) Rayagada district correspondent Manoj Patra were consigned to flames on Tuesday in the presence of family members, friends and relatives who bade tearful adieu to the departed soul.

Patra passed away during treatment at MKCG hospital in Berhampur yesterday. He was 55.

As per family sources, Patra fell sick and was admitted to the hospital. However, he breathed his last this morning while under treatment . Everybody was shocked at the untimely demise of the journalist.

BJP national vice- president Baijayant Panda condoled the death of Patra.

“Baijayant Panda expresses grief at the untimely passing of the OTV correspondent from Rayagada, Manoj Patra. His thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family,” the office of Jay Panda tweeted.

Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka also termed the demise of Patra as his personal loss.

“Extremely saddened to hear about the sad, unfortunate & untimely demise of OTV correspondent from Rayagada Shri Manoj Patra. It's a personal loss for me, my heartfelt condolences to bereaved family, friends. May his soul rest in peace,” tweeted Ulaka.

All the employees of OTV expressed deep grief over the passing away of Patra who had a long association with the news channel. They offered silent prayers for two minutes for the noble soul to rest in peace.
