A man from Dhenkanal, whose palm was severed off by some miscreants, walked into a hospital carrying the amputated part in a polythene bag on Thursday and later got it reattached by the doctors today.
 

The man has been identified as Ganeswar Panda of Rajkishorepur village under Gandia block in the district.
 

As per reports, some miscreants allegedly broke into the house of Panda last night and attacked him with sharp weapons. They severed Panda's palm in the process. The police said the incident was a fall out of some past enmity.   
 

Wreathing in severe pain, Panda somehow ran to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters hospital carrying the amputated palm in a polythene bag.
 

After initial treatment, Panda was referred to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Subsequently doctors at the hospital successfully reattached the palm in a marathon surgery. Now he is stated to be stable and has been kept under observation at the hospital for some more days.

 

"Panda came to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters hospital in a serious condition. After some initial treatment we immediately referred him to SCB Medical College and Hospital where his palm has been implanted successfully in an effective surgery," said Doctor Prashant Kumar Sethy.
