Man deserts wife and daughter for dark complexions, woman stages sit-in

In an unusual turn of events, a man has allegedly deserted his wife and daughter due to dark skin tone of daughter at Tatda village coming under Singla police station in Balasore district.

As per reports, the accused Chandan Das tied the nuptial knot with Jyotsna Das of Jamtikapal village in a ceremonious wedding in 2013. After two years of their marriage the couple was blessed with a daughter. Chandan along with his family members were disappointed with swarthy skin-tone of his daughter, and tortured Jyotsna on regular basis before disowning her completely.

Repudiated Jyostna is now knocking at the doors of police for Justice. She has staged a sit-in in front of her husband’s house along with her daughter protesting against the atrocity. She has also accused Chandan of having another wife in Mumbai where he reportedly works.

"I am ready to accept my daughter. But I will not accept my wife. I am ready to face any sort of court proceedings and pay any compensation amount slapped by the court of law," said Chandan.
