Kendrapara: Woman donates kidney to son, but in vain

Mothers are undoubtedly true saviours of their kids. Recently in a heart-wrenching incident, a mother who displayed great courage by donating her kidney lost her son soon after the operation procedure.

Rakesh Patra of Bali Jhari, Pattamundai, Kendrapara who was under treatment for eight months in SCB Medical College lost his life on 12th of October, after a kidney transplantation. Survived by ailing parents, wife Anupama Patra, and three children deceased Rakesh was the sole bread earner of the family.

Local resident Golak Parida said, “Rakesh gained consciousness after 1.5 hours of the surgery and turned his head after shedding tears, while his wife inquired about his health. Meanwhile, his mother Shibani who is recovering from her post operative stress is unaware of her son’s demise.”

He further added,  I am doubtful about what will be her condition after discovering the reality.

Meanwhile, Rakesh’s wife Anupama sought help, “Rakesh who earned his livelihood through driving was the sole earning member of the family. He has left behind huge amounts of debts, and no savings for the family’s day to day financial needs. She has urged the administration for financial assistance.”
