While using the internet, we leave several crucial information on the platform. A digital footprint refers to the trail of data you leave behind while using the internet. It includes websites you visit, email you send and information you submit online.

As per the Press Information Bureau (PIB), digital footprint can be used to track a person's online activities and devices. Fraudsters may use the digital footprints for number of crimes like cyberstalking, humiliation and embarrassment besides violation of privacy.

In order to stay safe from such crime, the nodal agency for information on the government shared some tips which one should remember while using the internet.

"If you are victim of cybercrime, register your complaint at www.cybercrime.gov.in. Beware and Stay safe online," the PIB added.
