Meher charged under section 302 and 309

Earlier Meher confessed his abetment to suicide of his wife and six children, including his four daughters and told them about the compulsions of his acute poverty behind the drastic step he took.

The Inspector in Charge of Ghatgaon police station said, “Despite what drove the man to kill seven members of his family and his attempt to kill himself, law will take its own course.”

Meher is still under medical supervision at hospital in Ghatagaon.

“Once Meher completely recovers, the facts behind the homicide and attempted suicide will come out,” sources said.

Meanwhile, the last rites of the bodies were performed after the postmortem.
