From sun burning to pigmentation, summer comes with its very own skincare issues. While protecting your skin with sunscreen with a good SPF level is ideal, such is the impact of scorching heat in this tropical land that even those cosmetics fail to offer the necessary protection.

However, it is always possible to treat the torturing effects of being under direct sunlight for long hours during summer once you are back to your base with cooling face masks.

Aloe Vera mask

Aloe vera is one of the most soothing ingredients that you can apply to the skin for that cooling and refreshing feel. It instantly reduces inflammation and redness. Add a few drops of lemon juice to 2 tablespoons of Aloe Vera gel and apply it on the face. Keep it for 10 minutes and clean it with lukewarm water.

Multani mitti, rosewater, and mint pack

Multani mitti has been used for ages as a face mask and to treat many skin-related problems. And both rosewater and mint are known for their cooling effects. Rosewater is used in thandai, sherbets, and many drinks and dishes for flavor whereas mint is an important cooking ingredient.

Mix one tablespoon of Multani mitti with 1 tablespoon of rosewater and a paste of mint. You can also add a bit of milk to make the consistency just right for the application and apply.

Cucumber and yogurt face mask

Cucumbers are the real stars of summer. They have a good amount of water content that can alleviate sunburn and make your skin cool. Cucumber slices are also used to reduce under-eye dark circles whereas cucumber juice help to fight the itchiness, rashes, acne, and blemishes that are sometimes caused due to extreme heat. Combine plain yogurt with cucumber pulp and apply it all over the face and neck. Wash after 20 minutes with plain water.

Coffee face mask

Coffee powder is a great exfoliate that scrubs off dead cells and reduces the puffiness of the eyes. Mix 2 tablespoons of coffee with 1 tablespoon of milk and 1 tablespoon of honey to form a paste. Apply all over the face and keep this mask for 15 minutes. Clean with lukewarm water and moisturize your face.

Sandalwood and Rosewater face mask

Sandalwood and rosewater have been used in antiseptic packs to heal wounds for ages in India. Apart from having a rich, long-lasting fragrance, the face mask of sandalwood powder and rosewater also cleanses the skin deeply and acts as a perfect toner. It also fights acne and dryness of the skin. Mix 1 tablespoon of sandalwood powder and make a paste adding the required rosewater. Apply on the face and wash after 15 minutes for well-toned and glowing skin.
