Black Neck problem in winter: Causes and treatment

In winter the skin starts to become dry due to coldness in the air. Chapped lips or cracked heels during winter are very common. Similarly, many people face black neck problems during winter which can be quite embarrassing. However, with proper care and home treatment, you can easily get rid of the blackness around your neck.

Causes of black neck problem

Black neck can be caused due to multiple reasons including too much exposure to the sun, neglecting skincare, and improper cleaning. Of course, there can be some health reasons behind the dark neck problem as it can be a side effect of some medication or the signs that you are pre-diabetic or diabetic. If the problem is due to high blood sugar levels, then you need to take the advice of a health expert.

But if it is caused due to neglect or not cleaning the neck regularly then you can get rid of that black circle around your neck using simple home treatment.

Treatment for black neck problem

Cleansing

Cleaning the black neck every day is the first step towards treating it. Cleanse the neck area with pigmentation with a face wash or cold-pressed soap making circular motions and rinse with plain water. Since such problems arise more during the winter, make sure that the cleanser or face wash you are using does not make your skin dry.

If the face wash or cleanser is strong, apply moisturizer after cleansing to make the skin around the neck soft and supple.

Exfoliating the neck

It is important to remove dead skin cells regularly or it can make the skin look dark and dull. Exfoliation helps to brighten the darkened areas and reduces the dark pigmentation around the neck. You can use natural scrub made from gram flour and curd or oatmeal and milk or use the scrubs that are readily available in the market at least two times a week for getting that even-toned neck.
