It is normal for old people to struggle with health and face some issues like stroke and heart attack. However, nowadays, many young people are suffering from stroke which is quite alarming.

A sedentary lifestyle, frequency of eating junk food, and erratic sleeping and eating habits have led to serious issues in young people.

How to reduce stroke in younger people?

Lifestyle changes are the first thing that health experts advise to prevent stroke in younger people. According to Dr Subhendu Mohanty, Senior Consultant Cardiology Department, Sharda Hospital there are no shortcuts to avoiding health issues. He has suggested a few simple ways to reduce stroke:

Exercising regularly

You must exercise regularly as it is one of the most effective ways to reduce your chances of getting a stroke. Exercise not only makes you more flexible and mobile but also improves blood circulation, lowers blood pressure, and helps in maintaining a healthy weight.

Focus on eating a healthy diet

Along with exercise eating healthy meals is also a determining factor in reducing the risk of stroke. You must eat a diet that is rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, healthy fats, and lean proteins to keep your cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and weight under control. Avoiding junk foods such as sugary snacks, processed foods, and unhealthy fats goes a long way in helping you maintain good health.

Shed excess weight

Obesity is the major cause of concern in both young and adults. To ensure that your risk of getting a stroke is very low, you must maintain a healthy weight. If you are obese ensure that you drop extra kilos with regular diet and exercise and keep the onset of life-threatening diseases at bay.

Say no to smoking

Smoking is one of the major causes of deteriorating health in younger people. Tobacco smoke damages blood vessels and can increase the chances of formation of blood clots. So quitting smoking is essential for avoiding the chances of getting a stroke.

Keep alcohol consumption under control

You must avoid drinking alcohol most of the time. But even if you have to drink occasionally drink in moderation or it can have a bad impact on your overall health.

Stress management is crucial

Chronic or prolonged stress is one of the major reasons for stroke in younger people. Practicing deep breathing techniques, meditation, and yoga or enjoying some hobbies for recreation is good for keeping your mind positive and happy and away from stress.

Keep diabetes in check

Diabetics are at higher risk of getting a stroke. Keeping the blood sugar levels under control can reduce the risk of stroke.
