Blackheads and acne are common teenage problems. However, the problem of blackheads continues all through life, and in some people who have problematic skin they are almost a daily nuisance. Be it a party or an important event, stubborn blackheads keep on popping up and many times even intelligent makeup tricks also fail to conceal them completely.

With the regular use of homemade face scrubs, it is possible to eliminate them completely.

Sugar and coconut oil

Coconut oil is known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and is largely used in Indian homes to treat regular cuts and wounds. It keeps the skin supple and smooth. When mixed with sugar it forms an excellent exfoliating scrub that clears all the clogged skin pores and removes dead skin.

For making a facial blackhead removal scrub mix a few drops of coconut oil in 2 tsp of sugar and apply on the face. Scrub it slowly for a few minutes and wash it with cold water.

Honey scrub

Pure, raw honey is a good exfoliating agent and keeps your skin supple and hydrated. It also removes whiteheads and blackheads effectively. Mix one tsp of honey with a few drops of lemon juice and apply it on the face for 5 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water.

Oatmeal, orange peel powder, and yogurt

Both yogurt and oatmeal are good for the health of the skin as they are packed with lots of nutrients. Together they also form a good face scrub for removing blackheads. Oatmeal prevents the formation of new blackheads as it absorbs the excess oil accumulation on the skin. To a tsp of oatmeal, add an equal amount of orange peel powder. Add yogurt to make a fine paste and massage this pack on the face for 5 to 10 minutes. Wash it off with cold water.

Lemon and salt scrub

Lemon is rich in vitamin C and is a natural exfoliating agent. When mixed with salt it forms an excellent blackhead-removing scrub that removes excess oil from the skin and opens the clogged pores. Mix lemon juice and salt in equal amounts and rub it on the face. Wash it off with cold water after a few minutes.

Brown sugar and cucumber

Brown sugar exfoliates the skin effectively and cleanses the skin’s pores deeply. Hence it is very good for treating both whiteheads and blackheads. When mixed with cucumber which is a good hydrating agent, the combination is effective in removing acne.

Mix 5 tsp cucumber paste with half a cup brown sugar and apply for 10 minutes. Rub slowly and wash off with cold water.
