  • You can keep your metabolism active by following certain habits.

As you age, your metabolism starts slowing down. Importantly, if you do less activity then it becomes sluggish and can make your hormones imbalanced, leading to lifestyle diseases and weight gain after you cross 30.

But, every individual can keep his/her metabolism working in top condition with discipline and some daily habits.

Avoid skipping meals

Many people skip meals to cut down their daily calorie consumption. However, to keep your metabolism active you must eat a balanced diet regularly throughout the day. When you skip meals and eat after a long time, the body starts storing fat to conserve energy and it ends up making you gain weight than losing it.

Say no to refined carbohydrates

Processed and refined foods are not good for health. Importantly refined carbohydrate sources like sugary drinks, pastries, and cookies, refined flour, and sugar are extremely bad for metabolism. Avoiding eating such foods is the best way to keep your metabolism active.

Crash dieting

Cutting down too much of calories from diet slows down metabolism and weakens the immune system making you vulnerable to several common ailments like cough and cold and fatigue. Diets that you can follow in the long run and include foods that you can source while traveling or when you are outdoors must be a part of your daily diet.

Excessive drinking can be dangerous

Alcohol slows down metabolism and also obstructs fat burning. So you must limit your alcohol intake and instead choose non-alcoholic beverages like lemon slices, iced black tea, or sparkling water. It is fine to enjoy a glass of red wine occasionally but that should be done in moderation.

Do you drink less amount of water?

If yes, then it can slow down your metabolism. Drinking less water leads to dehydration which ultimately affects your bowel movements. It is also important to drink water sip by sip instead of gulping it down as your nervous system gets a shock when you suddenly pour water down the throat.
