Indian cuisine is one of the most diverse cuisines in the world. The cuisine of India is characterised by its sophisticated and subtle use of different spices, grains, vegetables, and fruits, grown across India. Moreover, the cuisine including a wide collection of dishes and cooking techniques varies with the geographical region which reflects the demographics of the ethnicity of the Indian subcontinent. 

Religious beliefs and culture also play a powerful role in the evolution of Indian cuisine . While vegetarianism is widely practiced in different communities, the unique blend of cuisines has evolved through cultural interactions with neighbouring countries.

Throughout these years, Indian cuisine has highly influenced the cuisines across the world and it has now become one of the most popular cuisines across the globe. 

Recently, Taste Atlas, a digital guide to food and drinks around the world, revealed the list of the world's best cuisines and ranked different cuisines. The ranking is based on audience votes for ingredients, dishes, and beverages.

While Italy topped the list with a rating of 4.72, Greece and Spain were placed in the second and third position respectively. India secured 5th place with 4.54 points in the list following Japan.

According to Taste Atlas, the best-rated Indian dishes are Masala dosa, Shahi Paneer, Keema, and Hyderabadi biryani, among 460 other dishes. The list also has a mention of garam masala, ghee, malai, butter garlic naan, etc. 

Taste of Atlas also mentioned the best restaurants to try Indian cuisine. The list includes Bukhara (New Delhi), Dum Pukht (New Delhi), Shree Thaker Bhojanalay (Mumbai), Comorin (Gurugram), Karavalli (Bengaluru), and 450 others.
