The world famous Dhanu Jatra in Bargarh concluded on Friday night after the final act that saw the fall of Demon King Kansa.

Dhanu Jatra is the enactment of the mythological story that chronicles the fall of King Kansa.

In the final episode of the largest open air theatre, Mathura King Kansa was killed by Lord Krishna and Balaram.

Devotees were filled with emotions as they got an opportunity to witness the mythological characters particularly of Lord Krishna and Kansa Maharaj.

During the 11-day festival, Lord Krishna accompanied by his brother Balaram, who were invited to their uncle King Kansa's court, eventually slay the demon king.

Earlier on Thursday, devotees bid a tearful adieu to Lord Krishna as he embarked on a journey to the demon King’s court.

A hard-fought battle with Lord Krishna and the ceremonial fall of Kansa from his pedestal marked the end of the demon king's reign & the conclusion of Dhanu Jatra.

Dhanu Jatra had kicked off on December 27 transforming the entire Bargarh town into Mathura.

It is learnt that as many as 30 artistes hailing from Kolkata took 15 days to give Maharaja Kansa’s palace a look of Rajasthan palace. The palace was 42 ft high, 120ft long and 35ft wide.
