KGF Chapter 2 emerged as one of the most successful movies in 2022 with the highest gross collection. While anticipation for KGF Chapter 3 remains high, recently, ‘KGF 2’ started trending on Twitter after Telugu director Venkatesh Maha abused Rocky Bhai .

Both the instalments of the KGF franchise, produced under Hombale Films and written and director Prashanth Neel, garnered immense love from movie lovers across the country and overseas. Breaking the language barriers, KGF became the first Kannada movie to break several global records. Even Yash ’s Rocky Bhai character drove movie lovers crazy.

However, Telugu director Venkatesh Maha recently opined something different. Even he went on to abuse Rocky Bhai during an interview.

The Telugu director shared his thoughts on the topic of formulaic films while speaking at a ‘Women’s Day Special Interview’ along with several other directors like Nandini Reddy, Shiva Nirvana, Vivek Athreya and Mohan Krishna Indraganti.

Taking an indirect dig at KGF movies and Yash’s character, Venkatesh Maha said, “I won’t name the movie, but in it, the mother asks for some quantity of something (gold). The hero goes and liberates people who work there (the KGF mines).”

He further said, “In the other part (KGF: Chapter 2), all that gold [is drowned by Rocky]. Is he not a ne*ch kam*ena kutte (a term that translates to ‘lowly dog’). There were thousands of people (KGF workers), he could have built houses for them, but he throws the rest of the gold. A mother asks someone to become such a lowly dog-like person [who drowns the gold instead of distributing it among workers], and we (audiences) are clapping for that kind of a story.”

He also went on to suggest that he and other filmmakers on the panel can also make a commercial film like KGF but they didn’t do as they want to make movies that show their integrity and values.

However, such criticism didn’t go well with the Telugu audience as well as fans of Yash and Prashanth Neel. He was subjected to intense trolling for his insensitive language and criticism of commercial potboilers and KGF. Fans bashed him with derogatory remarks. Even netizens blast his fellow directors who laughed in approval of his statements.

It is pertinent to mention here that, Venkatesh Maha has directed only two films till date. However, he worked as a spot boy for a film and later made his acting debut before making his directorial debut with C/O Kancharapalem. His next film was a remake of Maheshinte Prathikaaram (Malayalam) titled Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya.

After getting brutally trolled on social media, Venkatesh issued an apology to movie lovers for hurting their sentiments by using filthy language. However, he stood firm with his opinion and said, “But I stand by my opinion, and I have the right to express it. I am not taking it back.”
