The two first met at a party and it was love at first sight for both. After a few years of dating, Manoj and Shabana married in 2006. They are proud parents to their lovely daughter Ava Nayla.
Speaking about his first meeting, Manoj said, “Shabana’s simplicity caught me. I first met her at director-filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s party. She had no makeup on her face, had oil in her hair, and was wearing glasses.”
Speaking about marrying a Muslim, Manoj in an interview with Barkha Dutt said, “I come from a Brahmin family. She also comes from a reputed family. But, surprisingly, none of my family members ever objected to it, or never have there been comments on caste or religion till now, never.
“She’s a proud Muslim and I’m a proud Hindu, but it doesn’t clash with each other because we are spiritual and respect each other’s religion,” he added.
