The eternal Don of Bolllywood-Amitabh Bachchan turns 81 today October 11. There are many stories and legacies about Big B as he is fondly called in the B-town. Over the years at events, during interviews, and many times during the KBC show, he has shared his views, experiences, and personal choices with the people. He has a high regard for his father Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan who was an eminent Hindi poet and from time to time Amitabh Bachchan does mention his greatness fondly remembering him as “Babuji.”
During one of his sessions on Kaun Banega Crorepati, the Shahenshah narrated an interesting incident that took place in his life when he was studying at Sherwood College in Nainital. Every year a drama competition used to be held in this college. Since Amitabh was very fond of acting he participated in the competition and won the trophy for the best performance.

He intended to win the trophy the next year as well and prepared with a full heart for the same. But just a couple of days before the competition Amitabh fell ill. He was not allowed to go even near the auditorium where the competition was going on but since the place was not far from the college hospital where Amitabh was kept, he could hear what was going on.
His father Harivansh Rai Bachchan who had come to Sherwood to watch the play of Amitabh instead of going to the competition decided to sit with him. Seeing an upset Amitabh who was distraught because he lost an opportunity to win a cup one more time, the Madhushala famous poet said that if things occur just as you have planned it is good, but if it does not occur as per your planning then it is better because it is the planning of God for you.
These words of Harivansh Rai Bachchan have stayed with Amitabh Bachchan all through his life and helped him to overcome crises and unexpected situations when things happened against his plan or wish.
