Jawan actress Nayanthara's new film ‘Annapoorani’ has landed in controversy after a complaint was lodged for hurting religious sentiments and some controversial comment about Lord Ram. The FIR against Nayanthara’s film was filed in Mumbai.

In the FIR, the lady superstar has been accused of promoting love jihad. The film which was released on December 1 was a box office dud and failed to impress the audience. However, the FIR after almost one week after the release of the movie has left Nayanthara fans in shock.

In the FIR, the complainant claimed that Nayanthara’s film has a character ‘Jai’ who says Lord Ram was a meat eater and this has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. Furthermore, the movie has been accused of a wrong interpretation of Valmiki’s ‘Ramayana’.

On the other hand, the complainant stated that there is a lot of criticism of Lord Ram in the film. Nayanthara’s ‘Annapoorani’ is the journey of a Hindu girl who aspires to become a chef, but struggles to cook non-veg food as she is the daughter of a Hindu priest.

Making matters worse, the film has a scene where Nayanthara is seen performing Namaz as she covers her head with a scarf before a cooking competition.

A social media user shared the video of the scene from the film and wrote, “This movie is not just a shame, but a scam. Don’t go on the name, they just used our goddess name to attract the audience.”

“Anti-Hindu movie; Boycott such movies, actresses and directors,” another user shared.

A third user wrote, “How can a 13-year-old girl brought up in a Brahmin family love the smell of non-veg.”

However, Nayanthara and the makers of the film have remained tight-lipped regarding the controversy.
