South Indian superstar, Thalapathy Vijay is one of the biggest actors in India. The Mersal actor is quite private and remains tight-lipped about his personal life. However, rumours mills are abuzz that Vijay and his wife Sangeetha are heading for divorce.

According to a PinkVilla report, the rumours of their separation began after Vijay's Wikipedia page stated that he and his wife are getting divorced with mutual consent.

Sangeetha not attending the Varisu audio launch and not attending director Atlee’s wife Priya’s baby shower also added fuel to the rumours.

However, it is reported that Sangeetha is currently holidaying with her kids in the US and that's the reason she couldn't attend any events. It is expected that Vijay will also join his family soon.

Meanwhile, these rumours have been termed as baseless by a close source of the couple. "The rumours of Vijay and Sangeetha's divorce are baseless. We have no idea how it started," the source was quoted saying to the entertainment portal.

Notably, Vijay and Sangeetha's love story is a fairy tale as the star married his fan in a grand ceremony.

Reportedly, Vijay met the love of his life and then-future wife Sangeetha post the release of the film Poove Unakkaga. She was a die-hard fan of Vijay and had come all the way from the UK to meet him in Chennai. The Bigil star was super impressed as she took all the effort to see him. In fact, he also asked her to visit his house the next day for a quick chat and meet his family too. Soon, they developed feelings for each other and their parents agreed too.

The couple tied the knot on August 25, 1999. They got married in both, Hindu and Christian traditions. Vijay and Sangeetha welcomed their first child, Jason Sanjaya year after their marriage and in September 2005, they were blessed with a daughter Divya Saasha.

On the work front, Thalapathy Vijay is waiting for the release of his upcoming film, Varisu, which is set to release on January 11. The makers unveiled the much-awaited trailer of the film yesterday and received a thunderous response from the audience.
