Thousands of UPSC aspirants toil for years together to fulfill their dream of becoming an IAS or IPS officer. However, Mayur Hazarika who cracked UPSC exam with an impressive AIR-5, chose not to become an IAS officer.

Yes, you read that right! He quit doctor to become a civil servant. Despite getting an impressive rank, he did not want to become an IAS officer. Well, instead he chose IFS (Indian Foreign Service) over IAS, DNA India reported.

Hailing from Assam, Mayur has always been academically bright. He excelled in studies both during his school days and intermediate. He attended the Don Bosco School, Tezpur, Assam till Class 10 and went to Ramanujan Junior College for Class 12.

After his Class 12, he successfully cracked the NEET exam and went on to pursue his MBBS. He was selected at the Gauhati Medical College where he completed his MBBS. After the successful completion of MBBS, he got a lucrative job as a doctor, DNA reported.

However, IFS was his calling. Unlike other aspirants who chose IAS and IPS, he always wanted to represent India at the international level. Despite becoming a doctor, he decided to become an IFS and thus started his UPSC preparation journey.

With his hard work and determination, Mayur cracked the UPSC exam in 2022 and fulfilled his dream of becoming an IFS officer. Officers like him are hope for the nation who give up their everything to represent India at the global platform.
