Ahead of the crucial Term 1 examination of Class 10 and 12 students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an important circular for the principals of its affiliated schools regarding students participating in international, national sports events and international Olympiads.

The CBSE has decided that in case students appearing in Board’s examinations are participating in sports events (both national, international) recognised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and international Olympiads, the examination for such students will be conducted at a later stage.

The CBSE has issued a set of instructions for all its affiliated schools which needs to be strictly followed.

As the Board examination for the session 2021-22 will be conducted in two terms- Term 1 and Term 2- it has been decided that:

1. No separate/ special examination will be conducted for Term 1 for session 2021-22.

2. In case, dates of events, including the dates of journey, are coinciding with the Board exams and students are not able to appear in Term 1 exam, their results will be declared based on Term 2 examination. The performance of the candidate in theory examination of Term 1 will be calculated on the basis of performance in theory portion of Term 2 examination.

3. The decision of preparing results on the basis of Term 2 examination will be applicable in the following cases: - The students participating in national, international sports events duly recognised by SAI, subject to the condition of production of a letter issued by SAI.

-Students participating in International Olympiads duly recognised by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, subject to the condition of production of letter by the concerned.

- Students who have tested positive for Covid-19 during the schedule of conduct of examination, subject to the production of test report and recommendation from a registered medical practitioner. As per the CBSE circular, the schools need to send application to the concerned Regional Office with recommendation of Sports Authority of India and Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, respectively as stated in the circular dated 19-7-2019 and 30-2-2020.

“The information and requests from the candidates through schools should reach CBSE latest by November 25, 2021. The Regional Offices after receipt of such requests shall ensure the genuineness of requests and documents received with such requests and send confirmation to the schools. The data of all such cases, roll number and school wise details shall be maintained by the Regional Offices,” the circular added.
