To be hanged till death; Odisha POCSO court hands down death penalty to 2 rapists

A POCSO court in Jagatsinghpur awarded death penalty to two rapists in the sensational rape and murder case of a minor in Tirtol in 2014.

The accused have been identified as Sheikh Asif and Seikh Akil.

As per reports, they had kidnapped a minor girl who was returning home after buying chocolates for her. After rape, they killed her in order to prevent her from speaking out.

Speaking on the judgement, public prosecutor, Dolagobinda Das said, “Four men were arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a minor girl in 2014. While two were acquitted, other two were held guilty.”

A total of 27 eye witnesses have recorded their statements in this case.
