Seniors ‘Strip & Sexually Abuse’ Class 10 Athlete During Odisha State Athletics Meet

In a shocking incident, a minor athlete was allegedly subjected to sexual abuse and harassment during the Odisha State Athletics meet in Bhubaneswar.

The minor, who hails from Rourkela, reportedly studies in standard 10. As per initial reports, he was sexually abused by four senior players on April 10.

The victim alleged that the four senior players had initially hurled slangs at him for failing to qualify in the long jump event held on April 9.

“The next day, the senior players called me to their room. I thought that they had called me to give me breakfast coupons. When I went to their room, the misbehaved and stripped me. Later, they sexually abused me and make a video call to two friends. They humiliated me by calling my friends to the room as well,” the victim alleged.

Sources said that around 23 players from Rourkela had come to Bhubaneswar to participate in the State Athletics meet which was held between April 8 and April 10. Following the incident, the minor player narrated his ordeal to his parents who then lodged a formal complaint with Infocity Police station yesterday.

Despite registering a case, police are yet to take action in connection with the incident. Today, the parents met Bhubaneswar DCP seeking stringent against the senior players for the torture.

“My son had come to participate in the long jump event. As my son didn’t qualified, the senior players misbehaved and tortured my son. Instead of taking action, the organisors of the meet are forcing us to settle the matter,” alleged the victim’s mother.
