A marriage procession turned into a battlefield after some members of the groom's entourage allegedly attacked their counterparts from the bride's side at Muribahal of Tureikela in Bolangir on Friday.

In the clash, two persons from the bride's side suffered severe injuries and are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur. Their identities are yet to be ascertained.

According to a source, the procession of the groom was heading towards the bride’s residence at Muribahal village. The members of the entourage were dancing to the beat of the DJ sounds. Just then, one from the bride side joined the procession and started dancing.

The entourage opposed this, leading to a verbal duel between the two sides. Soon, the picture turned violent with the members of the entourage started attacking him. Hearing the commotion, some others from the bride's side came to his rescue. Later, they (groom's side) stabbed two persons from the bride's side with knives.

The injured persons were immediately rushed to a hospital in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur.

In this regard, the bride side lodged a complaint at Tureikela police station. On the basis of the complaint, the police have detained four persons from the groom's side.

"There were goons in the entourage. They attacked some persons from our side with knives, leaving two of them seriously injured,” said Belakhama Tandi, bride’s father.
