Two brothers were seriously injured after they were allegedly attacked by four unidentified miscreants near Talanagar village in Soro area of Balasore district on Monday.

The injured have been identified as Prafulla Das and his brother Sarat Das of Talanagar village. They are the supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and brothers of the party's Mandal No-44 president.

The district unit of the BJP alleged that BJD supporters were behind the attack.

According to a source, the saffron party had taken out a victory rally in Soro. Prafulla and Sarat took part in the rally. After the culmination of the rally, they returned to their village.

On their way back home, the brother duo was crossing an overbridge when four miscreants, who were supposedly waiting there, came out of their hiding and attacked the pair from behind with sharp weapons.

Later, a few party workers who were passing through the stretch noticed them lying in a pool of blood. They immediately rescued them and rushed them to Soro hospital. As their condition deteriorated, they were shifted to Balasore district headquarters hospital (DHH).
