The man arrested for operating a racket to supply illegal physical disability certificates to students for admission at the BJB Autonomous College in Bhubaneswar used to charge Rs 40,000 per candidate.

According to sources, Badagada police have arrested two persons Manas Kumar Bej and Niranjan Maharana in connection with the case.

During interrogations of the two, police found that the duo had collected money from five students by charging Rs 40000 per certificate. 

Manas had opened a student utility centre inside the BJB campus and was operating the entire crime syndicate from the unit.

Reports said Manas's brother is an influential office-bearer of a political party and he used to provide substantial backing for operating the racket.

Similarly, Niranjan was the one who prepared all the forged certificates. Earlier, police had arrested one person in connection with the case. 

As per earlier reports, the principal of the college, Niranjan Rath had lodged FIRs against as many as eight students for furnishing fake disability certificates to get admission into the college.

Meanwhile, the State Higher Education Department has canceled the admission of all 8 students accused of availing seats in BJB College by furnishing forged disability certificates.
