Commissionerate Police busted a honeytrap racket and arrested as many as three persons for their alleged involvement in the racket in Cuttack on Wednesday.

The police have also seized Rs 25,000 in cash, three mobile phones and one ATM card from the possession of the accused. However, a woman, who was also involved in the racket, is on the run.

As per reports, the accused have been arrested on the charge of luring a financially sound man and later blackmailing him for money.

Responding to a complaint, Lalbag police raided the area and arrested the accused including a fourth class employee of a college.

“The accused chatted with a youth for some time and trapped him with the help of a woman. Then they called him to a place and forcibly took away his ATM card. The accused also beat the youth mercilessly and got the pin number of his ATM. They have also withdrawn some money from his account,” said a police official.

Earlier in September last year, a woman had been arrested by Saheed Nagar Police for allegedly honeytrapping a man and later robbing his house. Police had also seized gold, cash and other valuables worth over Rs 5 lakh from her possession.
