In yet another instance of brutality being captured on camera, a former sarpanch was thrashed by a mob with belt in full public glare in Odisha's Jajpur district. The video of the incident, which occurred a few days back, has now gone viral on social media.

As per the initial reports, former sarpanch of Dasrathpur block, Laxmidhar Sahu was allegedly attacked by around 8 to 10 youths while he was on his way to attend some work on his motorcycle three days back. It is alleged that Sahu was attacked over some past rivalry.

Initially, two to three youths intercepted Sahu’s vehicle and later assaulted him with belt on the busy street near Rambag chhak. Though Sahu pleaded for help, nobody came to his rescue.

“Around 8 to 10 youths were involved in the assault. Though a lot of people were standing, nobody came to my rescue despite repeated pleas,” said Sahu.

As per reports, Sahu was subsequently admitted to Jajpur hospital and was later shifted to Cuttack. He was discharged after treatment recently. Based on the complaint filed in connection with the incident, Police have reportedly arrested three youths and further investigation is underway.
