Adapting zero tolerance approach towards violence, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has imposed a hefty fine of Rs 10,000 on a man for misbehaving with a woman passenger.
 
According to Bangalore Mirror reports, on January 2, a female passenger was sexually harassed by a male passenger at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda station.

The video of the entire incident went viral on the social media like wildfire. After the video surfaced on social media, people demanded action against the accused. Besides, a police complaint was registered against the accused.

Taking cognizance of the matter, the BMRCL imposed Rs 10K fine on the accused person under the Metro Railways (Operation and Maintenance) Act 2002, under section 59, 60 and 64. It was for the first time the BMRCL levied such a hefty fine.

The BMRCL also informed that the passengers who will be found guilty of such indecent behaviour fine will be imposed on them. And, the fine amount will be Rs 10,000. 

The BMRCL has also urged women to act immediately if any sort of harassment happens to them and immediately report to the station controllers regarding the incident
