In yet another incident of crime that speaks volumes of the poor law and order situation in Odisha Capital, unidentified miscreants allegedly attacked a trader with sharp weapons near Sunderpada last night.

The trader, Niranjan Sahoo was attacked when he was returning home after closing his shop on Monday. “I was returning home when six youths in three bikes intercepted me and asked me the route to Harirajpur.

One of them tried to snatch my mobile phone and when I resisted, others started attacking me with sharp weapons,” alleged Sahoo. Sahoo further said that all the miscreants were in the age group of 22 to 25 years.

“The miscreants attacked me brutally. As I was wearing a helmet, I got saved,” he said. Surprisingly, the attack took place some 1.5 km away from the Airfield police station. Later, Sahoo lodged a police complaint in connection with the incident.

Earlier on Sunday, a man was killed while his wife sustained critical wounds in a stabbing attack in Bhubaneswar. According to sources, the couple who lived along with their child on the footpaths near PMG square was attacked by some unknown miscreants.

On April 7, miscreants looted around Rs 2.4 lakh from a parked car at Bapuji Nagar area in Bhubaneswar.
