It was Badal again offered himself to pick up Abdul from his classes around ten in the night on theat ill-fated night. But neither Abdul nor Badal returned raising tension in Haq`s family. Finally, Abdul`s parents went to the Purighat police station and lodged a named FIR against Badal.

Badal meanwhile had called up Sheikh Usman Haq and demanded Rs. 11 lakh for Abdul`s release. The Cuttack city police started tracking the mobile bumber of Abdula and he was traced to Saradhapur near Khurda. Abdul walked into the police trap easily. The case was solved and Abdul was handed over to his parents.

The police said that Badal was a histroy-sheeter. His wife too had played a crucial role in the kidnapping of Abdul. Badal, police said, had previously duped Rs. 5 lakh from two persons of Brahmabarada of Jajpur impersonating as an insurance agent. Both Badal and his wife would now for some days at least coo their heels in the Choudwar jail.
