New Delhi: The Supreme Court today extended, till June 12, the stay of declaration of the All India Pre-Medical Entrance Test (AIPMT) results, over-riding its earlier order restraining the Central Board of Secondary Education to hold back the results till June 9.

The court had June 3 asked the CBSE not to go ahead with the declaration of results till June 9 as it had given another week's time to Haryana Police to complete its probe into the leakage of the question paper and the circulation of its answer key through electric devices in 10 states.

The AIPMT were originally scheduled to be declared June 5.

A vacation bench of Justice R.K.Agrawal and Justice Amitava Roy extended the stay on the result's declaration after Additional Solicitor General Pinki Anand mentioned the matter.

Earlier the matter was to come up for hearing June 10.

The court had given Haryana Police a week's time to complete the probe so that it could know the number of people who benefited from the question paper leak. It is only after having an assessment of the extent to which the integrity of the AIPMT has been compromised that the court will decide on the plea for the re-conduct of the entrance test.

The court is hearing of a PIL by Tanvi Sarwal along with another petition by Jahnvi Shanker seeking the re-conduct of the AIPMT in the wake of the leakage of the question paper and subsequent answer key being circulated through electronic devices.
