Lucknow: Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi on Friday filed an FIR in the cyber crime cell alleging some mischievous and fanatic people had posted a false statement attributed to her, along with some photographs, on social networking sites.
Former Uttar Pradesh Congress chief and national spokesperson also said that while inflammatory words have been used, the persons who posted the material have also gave her personal number with a public appeal to trouble her with unwanted calls.
She also alleged the post was an attempt to portray her as anti-Hindu and foment trouble.
Demanding police to expose the people behind the "criminal act", Joshi said she had a firm belief in the constitution and respected all religions.
Chairman of the National SC/ST Commission P.L. Punia said it also "appeared to be a well thought out conspiracy to defame the leader and the Congress".
