Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of some key oil and gas projects in Tamil Nadu. He addressed the event virtually in the evening today.
PM Modi inaugurated the Ramanathapuram-Thoothukudi section of the Ennore-Thiruvallur-Bengaluru-Puducherry-Nagapattinam-Madurai-Tuticorin natural gas pipeline in the state.
He also dedicated the Gasoline Sulfur-Free (Desulfurization) unit of Manali-based Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited to the nation and also laid the foundation stone of the Cauvery Basin Refinery at Nagapattinam.
In a series of tweet, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the 143 km Ramanathapuram-Thoothukudi natural gas pipeline dedicated by the PM will ensure uninterrupted supply of natural gas to households, commercial units and transport sector and will usher in a clean fuel-led development in the state.
"The natural gas pipeline will supply environment-friendly & affordable fuel to fertiliser plants, which will boost the availability of low-coat fertilisers for farmers, encourage infrastructure development & accelerate socio-economic development in Tamil Nadu," he said.
