Raipur (Madhya Pradesh): A group of Naxalites stormed into the residence of a BJP MLA, located in Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh, snatched a weapon from his security guard and left the place without causing any harm, a police official said today. The incident took place last midnight in Munagapdar village, where BJP MLA Damrudhar Pujari, who had contested polls from Bindranawagarh, resides.

Talking to PTI over phone, Inspector General of Police (IG) of Durg range R K Vij said that about a dozen armed Naxalites came into a private vehicle at Pujari`s house at midnight, when Pujari and his family members were asleep. "After entering the house, the Naxalites started threatening the MLA and his family members. Later, they asked Pujari, where his security guard was. The guard had gone to sleep at the rear part of the house. Naxalites went there, threatened him and snatched his service revolver," Vij said. After the incident, the Naxalites immediately fled from the spot.

When Pujari informed the police about the incident, a team of policemen was rushed to the spot and a search was launched. Terming the incident as sad, Pujari, while talking to PTI, said that he and his family were were not harmed by the Naxalites, who were around 50 in number. The BJP MLA had come to his village last week.
