New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid tributes to the victims of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre on Tuesday.

“Humble tributes to the martyrs who laid their lives in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919. The Nation will never forget their supreme sacrifices and they will continue to inspire love for our motherland,” tweeted Patnaik.

Hundreds of people were killed by British troops on this day in 1919 as they fired indiscriminately on an unarmed gathering of thousands who had assembled in Jallianwala Bagh in Punjab amid nationwide protests against the Rowlatt Act which had extended wartime repressive measures.
