New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: No need to worry now, if you have a confirmed reserved ticket but suddenly you have changed your plan. You are not going to lose the money as the Indian Railways has come up with a new norm.

The new guideline released by the Railways says:

“Chief Reservation Supervisor of important stations are authorised by Railway Administration to permit the change of name of a passenger having a seat or berth reserved in his name,” read the Indian Railways’ release.

In case of government servant, proceeding on duty, he/she can make written request 24 hours before the train’s departure. The name on the ticket will be changed to another person’s name.

A passenger can also transfer his confirmed ticket to his father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, son and daughter. But he/she just needs to make a request in writing 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train.

If the passenger is a student of a recognised educational institute, the head of the institution can make a written request before 48 hours following which the name of the student can be transferred to any other student of the same institution.

In case of marriage parties, the passengers write a request 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train and make the transfers.

National Cadet Corps members can also avail it by making a written request 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train.
