Mumbai: Bollywood actor Sunny Deol on Wednesday said he did not harbour any political ambitions and hence would not join that field but will campaign for "good" candidates as and when needed.

"I will not enter politics I don't have any such ambition. I am very much happy being an actor as you get to do what you want. I have gathered this from my dad (Dharmendra who was in politics) that (in politics) you depend on so many people to get a job done and if you made a promise and then if you don't do it...then it is not good," Sunny told PTI.

According to some media reports, Sunny was likely to contest against Congress minister Manish Tewari from Ludhiana seat. However, Congress has replaced Tewari and given ticket to Ravneet Singh Bittu.

Sunny's father Dharmendra was BJP MP from Bikaner constituency in Rajasthan in 14th Lok Sabha.

Recently, Sunny campaigned for BJP candidate and former Mumbai police commissioner Satyapal Singh in Baghpat district of western Uttar Pradesh. He took part in a road show organised by Singh.

"If I like the candidate and he is good and needs support then I will be there. Satyapal Singh has done good things as commissioner of the city. He left everything and joined politics which is good. As we need that kind of people who are positive and will go out and do something good for the country," Sunny said.

Sunny said citizens are "duty bound" to exercise franchise so as to elect "good" government.
