Mumbai: Actor Amitabh Bachchan has "apologised" to his fans, who had gathered outside his Juhu residence Jalsa on Sunday, for allegedly being roughed up by police.

The fans usually gather every week outside Bachchan`s residence to catch a glimpse of the superstar.

"I apologise to all the fans that came to Jalsa this evening, as on all Sundays, and got roughed up by the police," Big B tweeted late in the evening.

The actor said he spoke to the concerned police station and a representative was sent to apologise for the action.

"They (police) were controlling the huge rush," he said.

Thanking the police for prompt action, Bachchan said, "Thank you Mr Bhagat and Mumbai Police for your prompt action..these fans do not mean trouble, just wait obediently to cheer..."

Meanwhile, Juhu police said they had no knowledge of any such incident outside Bachchan`s bungalow as no mention was made in the register.

However, they said the police official mentioned in Bachchan`s tweet is their senior.
