Three Criminals Nabbed In Separate Police Encounters In Odisha
Sambalpur/Puri: Three wanted criminals were arrested after police encounters in separate places of Sambalpur and Puri district today.
A special squad of Sambalpur district police along with personnel from Dhanupali Police Station conducted raids on several spots along Kulutkani-Dhankauda road at around 5.35 AM after receiving input about the presence of wanted criminal Tridev Bagh in the area.
In an attempt to escape arrest after spotting the police, Bagh fired gunshots, but was injured after the cops backfired in retaliation. Bagh along with a police constable sustained injuries during the brief exchange of fire. He was later admitted to Sambalpur district headquarters hospital for treatment.
While two more criminals fled the spot, police managed to apprehend two of Bagh’s associates including a minor boy. A pistol, two live bullets, three mobile phones, cash Rs 30,000 and three gold chains were seized from their possession.
Meanwhile in Puri district, two notorious criminals—Biswaranjan Sahu and Siyamat Khan were nabbed during separate encounters with police late last night.
Acting on a tip off on movement of wanted drug smuggler Biswaranjan, a team of Kumbharpada police conducted raid to nab the criminal in Talabania area. After a brief gunfight, police arrested him and also seized a pistol, bullets and a motorcycle from his possession.
Similarly, police arrested Siyamat Khan, a most wanted criminal accused in as many as 10 cases, after an exchange of fire near Basheli sahi. A pistol and ammunition have been seized from him.
