Rourkela: A series of loots in five different places on Monday night has led to panic among locals in Rourkela area of Sundergarh district.

According to reports, some unidentified miscreants reportedly broke open the door of a Jana Seva Kendra at Jharbeda area and looted cash worth Rs 25,000, a laptop, a desktop computer system and other valuables last night.

This apart, the robbers also looted two shops in Kuarmunda and two other shops in Tangarpali area. However, the exact amount of money and valuable looted from these shops is yet to be known.

Locals, meanwhile, questioned the law and order situation in the area. They alleged that the crime rate in the area is on the rise as the local cops are yet to intensify night patrolling.

Based on a complaint lodged this morning, Kuarmunda Police is said to have initiated an investigation into loot incidents.
